David Clear is looking to bring his home-made camp-fired Cottage-food friendly Cowboy Coffee to the Seed of Life!!!

What is Cowboy Coffee?

Cowboy Coffee has a rich history rooted in the American West. Its origins trace back to the early 1800s when cowboys and settlers brewed coffee over campfires using simple pots and pans. Water issues were common on the trail and cowboys often faced challenges in sourcing clean water. This scarcity made the ability to brew coffee crucial, as it provided not only hydration but also a morale boost during long, arduous days. A way to ensure water would be palatable and safe was by melting snow or boiling water from streams.

Typically, cowboys used coarse coffee grounds. The coffee was brewed directly in a tin or enamelware pot suspended over an open fire by hook or chain, often referred to as a “percolator.” Sometimes the grounds were left in, resulting in a strong and robust flavor. The campfire brew method was practical for a nomadic lifestyle, allowing the ability to prepare coffee quickly while on the trail. It was usually served in tin cups or metal mugs.

(You could sell metal mugs with your logo on it?!?! tourists would totally pay a premium for that.)

Cowboy Coffee provided warmth and energy during long days of cattle herding and travel. It also fostered camaraderie around the campfire after a long day of work. Cowboy coffee remains a symbol of rugged individualism and the frontier spirit. Coffee still serves as a vital part of daily life for most Americans and it was for the burgeoning West.

In keeping with the Mission of the Seed of Life in fostering sovereignty as well as health, David’s coffee will be bringing two unique style of Cowboy Coffee to our land:

UN-CAF Mesquite “Coffee”

When cowboys were out on the trail with no Starbucks in sight, they discovered that the ample mesquite tree bean growing on the plains (especially in arid regions) brewed up a terrific and tasty hot drink. Mesquite coffee provided a caffeine-free alternative that has superfood benefits.

  • Mesquite has a Low Glycemic Index which can help stabilize blood sugar levels.
  • Mesquite Coffee has no caffeine.
  • Mesquite is rich in dietary fiber and promotes gut health.
  • Mesquite is full of accessible minerals like calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc, and packed with anti-oxidants, such as flavonoids and phenolic acids.
  • Mesquite has plant-based protein!

FULL-CAF Green Bean Coffee

Green coffee, also known as unroasted coffee, has been consumed for centuries in various parts of the world. In Ethiopia, where coffee originated, green coffee is a popular beverage. In the 1800s, green coffee beans were sometimes the only option available, especially on the frontier. Green beans would last much longer on the trail than roasted beans, and could maintain freshness for up to two years. Cowboys would roast these beans over a campfire or on a wood stove before grinding them to brew coffee. Or more often, they would simply brew them in their natural green and unroasted state.

  • Green coffee contains more antioxidants than roasted coffee.
  • Green coffee contains higher levels of polyphenols and other nutrients.
  • Green coffee is usually much less acidic than roasted coffee.
  • Green coffee beans have moderate caffeine levels, which may be more digestible for those with caffeine sensitivity.

Bitter & Black

Cowboy Coffee was typically drank black without additives. In fact Mesquite Coffee is so complex, additives dilute the unique flavor. However, if you prefer your coffee on the sweet side, we offer Raw Turbinado Sugar or Agave Syrup free of charge.

Uniquely Creamy

The following creams will be available for an upcharge:

  • Young Coconut Cream
  • Raw Sprouted Pecan Milk
  • Local Raw milk from Fredericksburg dairy (as available)

We look forward to serving you a fresh cup of Cowboy Coffee the next time (and every time) you are headed out to the Texas Wine Trail in Johnson City, Texas.

We started a rumble channel. Here we will post an occasional vid about our progress with the land and ideas we have used and how they are faring… like our fruit tree planting and the geothermal greenhouse, etc. Down the line, we’ll also use this channel for sharing esoteric wisdom as well.

Enjoy!

p.s.

we have established a locals community, but not much is going on there until we are more firmly established on the land…

G*D cares about what you eat and drink.

July 25, 2021 by mm.stratton@homecamp.com

G*D cares about what we eat and drink. He has given us guidance.

“And by the river on its bank, on one side and on the other, will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month because their water flows from the sanctuary, and their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing.”
Ezekial 47:12 NASB

He even gave us a recipe for sprouted bread! And a reduced calorie dietary plan!

“But as for you, take wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet, and spelt, and put them in one vessel and make them into bread for yourself; you shall eat it according to the number of the days that you lie on your side, 390 days. Your food which you eat shall be twenty shekels a day by weight; you shall eat it from time to time. The water you drink shall be a sixth of a hin by measure; you shall drink it from time to time.”
Ezekial 4:9-11 NASB

G*D is concerned about the ‘cleanliness’ of our body temple AND WHAT WE INGEST. Pray and meditate today on what He wants you to eat and drink. Fruits of His holy creation, or abominations that might damage His creation that you are in charge of… your body temple.
And always pray over your food.
